Evolving ability to make informed choices and take actions with self confidence
Environmental Alert believes in community involvement in decision making processes as a constitutional right and a way for ensuring people-centered policies and programs. The thrust is therefore on empowering civil society organizations and communities to engage in policy processes and advocacy for fulfillment of their rights. Application of community-led or community friendly methodologies are characteristic of EA’s approach. Cutting across all program components, EA empowerment initiatives focus on:
- Building capacities civil society at all levels to facilitate micro and macro level civic engagements
- Facilitating interface between civil society and duty bearers to evolve mutual benefits from development programs
- Supporting initiatives for strengthening policy and decision making frameworks including entrenchment of gender sensitivity and equity.
