Forests and Trees for Life

This year 2011, WED activities will be organised in line with the global theme; ‘Forests: Nature at Your Service.’ This theme has been chosen to encourage forest conservation and sustainable consumption for green growth and in support of the United Nations International Year of Forests (IYF) which is a global platform to celebrate people’s action to sustainably manage the world’s forests. The theme for IYF celebrations is “Forests for People.” In this respect, Uganda has adopted the theme, ‘Plant a Tree: Save a Life.’ in order to address the challenges faced with forest conservation.
