EA Programme 2009 - 2013

The new interventions will build on previous achievements, lessons and strategic relationships to ensure priorities of the vulnerable men and women are integrated in ENR and agriculture related policies and programmes at national, regional and international levels. These interventions will benefit up to 48,000 primary beneficiaries and over 450,000 secondary beneficiaries.

The purpose will be achieved through successful implementation of mutually reinforcing programme objectives as illustrated below:

Programme Component Broad Objectives
Addressing natural resource degradation and climate change impacts To enhance livelihoods of natural resource dependent men and women (in EA operating areas) with local adaptive capacity to effects climate change while sustaining the natural resource base by 2011
Enhancing Food and nutrition security To ensure food and nutrition secure households in rural and urban settings are in place and functioning in Moyo, Adjumani, Yumbe, Wakiso, Kampala, Districts on the basis of policies and mechanisms for sustainable food production and utilisation by women, men and children.
Promotion environmentally sound community ENR based enterprises To promote gender based ecologically, economically viable and socially acceptable ENR enterprises for improved household incomes among natural resource dependent communities in Mubende, Kyenjojo, Wakiso,Kampala, Moyo, Adjumani and Yumbe
Effectiveness, Efficiency and Institutional development An effective and efficient learning organization within a gender sensitive & dynamic environment
